META DATA

All that is required in your image's metadata is your name. This is entered in the File>File Info> "Author" field of the General metadata tab in Photoshop and Elements, in the "Creator" field in Lightroom. See the help files for how to do this.

Any other information may be filled in for your personal reference.

If you want the image title or other description to appear when posted to our Facebook page, enter it in the Description field. Example.

CREATING A FILENAME (filename.jpg)

Do not submit images having camers-generated, or other automated filenames. Descriptive image filenames may be any reasonable length necessary to efficiently describe the image. Some Some tips on naming your image files..

Filenames MUST NOT contain your name, except as directed for special submissions

Nature & Photojournalism image filenames should contain only a brief "story-based" statement. (Judges don't like clever or quippy filenames)

About image modification

For all categories except creative, the reality of the subject must not be altered. Adjustments to exposure and color balance, sharpening and minor noise and spot elimination to impove image quality without distorting the reality of the subject is okay. For the specifics for each competition category, please see Competition Definitions.
